RANT WARNING – CONDESCENDING STATEMENT (AND PICTURES) AHEAD
In a recent post, Two Really Ignorant Statements And What You Should Know, I covered some of the numbers associated with the current economic situation. Somehow, some didn’t get it. I venture to say they simply didn’t read it. Yes it’s long. I’m sorry but our problems, let alone any solutions, can’t always be summed up in a meme. But it got me thinking. Maybe drawing it out wouldn’t be such a bad idea. I don’t mind doing it. So, let me attempt to make this extremely simple by drawing some pictures.
You see… I think there is a reason why headlines like these are buried:
“U.S. homeownership rate drops to lowest since 1965.” (Bloomberg).
“Another GDP stunner: Growth only 1.2% over the last 3 months.” (USA Today).
“Worst economic recovery since 1930s; salaries fall $17,000 short.” (Washington Examiner).
“Let’s face it — the U.S. economy is going nowhere fast.” (CBS).
I also think there is a reason why you are not being told how since 2008, both unemployment and retail sales have decreased.
Consider the words of top trends researcher Gerald Celente: “We’re forecasting the economy is not going to rebound with the economic proposals that are in place now. The global situation has created an environment for financial panic. The financial panic conditions have been in place for quite a while. What Trump’s victory has done is played it off for a little bit possibly, but on the negative side, you still have the debt and interest rates going up and the debt that has to be paid.“
Let me sum up my previous article with another picture…
There you have it! Now, if you haven’t read the article in question, I would suggest you do to better understand this rant. I am trying any way I know how to make this extremely simple and to spread the word. People need to understand how big this problem really is.
This topic really angers me because denial doesn’t get any of this fixed. The government is ignorant, evil or stupid, or else they wouldn’t continue to push things that hurt the citizenry so much. Maybe it’s people in general that are ignorant; the blind leading the blind. The sad part is that so many seem to really want to remain that way. I feel that most don’t take the time to question the narrative or motive of someone in a fancy suit or a lab coat. For that matter, the media must be ignorant, evil or stupid too because they feel it’s okay to share some of the nonsense they do. The spread of such nonsense just hurts those doing their best to make a good decision. Put bad in, get bad out. Maybe I shouldn’t be so surprised.
What really makes me angry though, are those who belittle others that attempt to try something different when the economy finally catches up to them; like borrowing money to go back to school. Sure, it’s not the best thing to do sometimes but at least they are trying something. It’s better than giving up and crying about it and hoping that the government is going to give you money they took from your neighbor.
Think about how ignorant someone would have to be to put blame on the obvious victims of the system. “You lost your job, went to school to get a better job and didn’t’ end up finding one. You’re a deadbeat!” What?!?! Folks, we live in a country where we incarcerate more people than any other nation, we don’t rank in the top 10 of free nations, yet we have the audacity to call ourselves the “Land of the Free“. We live in a nation where our leaders tell us it’s a democracy in spite of what the Constitution says and people not only accept it, but they repeat it. For crying out loud, our politicians, military and law enforcement all swear to defend a document they are not even required to read and that few could even recite the spirit of without looking it up. I don’t see too many people throwing a fit about that! I don’t see cries about accountability and responsibility on a single one of those, but you’ll try to make someone feel guilty about attempting to make their lives better? Few could cast the stone at this point because most can’t even critically think their way through these simple things, let alone someone rolling the dice for a bettor opportunity. You need to give a break to the folks that at least try.
To be ignorant means you lack knowledge or awareness in general. Ignorant also means uneducated or unsophisticated. If you wanted to stop being so ignorant, you could open your eyes, go to school, research, challenge what you’re being sold and so on. But think about the ridicule people who attempt to do so usually endure. Fear of this type of backlash stops many. I consider those that question anyway and venture out to try something different or scary, extremely brave. Oddly enough, that ridicule is dished out by those desperately seeking to remain ignorant and have no problem whatsoever exposing their ignorance to the world. Yeah… irony can be pretty ignorant too sometimes.
So just in case you haven’t picked up on the theme of this article yet, let me be clear. It is my contention that we may have some economic issues, but the real problem derives from an ignorant… very ignorant… no, extremely ignorant populous that subscribes to all of the things that hurt them because they refuse to research anything other than a headline or talking point. Our problems are so bad because so many refuse to critically think anymore. Stop picking on the people that at least had the courage to try something. For the record, I believe these problems could be fixed; we just have to want to fix them. It starts by questioning the conclusions – even our own. THINK FOR YOURSELVES!!!
