eToro (e-Toro) is a social trading and investment marketplace that allows users to trade currencies, commodities, indices, and stocks. They provide a “CopyTrader technology” that is supposed to allow anyone to start trading cryptocurrency by automatically copying other traders.

I signed up for the program, and I wanted to share my experience.

Getting Started

Well, I was never able to get started. And considering how difficult it has been, I can’t help but wonder how this company makes any money. My account has been “pending verification” since day one. Many weeks later, it remains in pending status.

Now, you would think that the app might provide some direction regarding this issue. Thankfully, they did. The site says that if they need anything else from me, they will reach out to me.

So, I wait, and then I wait some more. But how long should a customer have to wait before we get some kind of clarity here? Just wait until you see that answer below. Anyway, I became a part of the “e-Toro Trading Community” two weeks ago.

And it’s not like I haven’t communicated with them. I’m not that patient. I did ask for help via their “support” email. Unfortunately, I never got a reply.

It’s unfortunate. I was so excited about this platform that when I saw they offered perks for friends and family, I began to promote it on my website. So, I do apologize to my readers. I feel bad for jumping the gun on that one. I don’t do that often. My apologies.

I was really looking forward to providing an awesome review for you on this one. Unfortunately, it’s been nothing but issue after issue. As I said, I’m curious about how they make money.

It’s not just me, either. I know of at least two others dealing with the same issue – people who want to use the platform but have been unable to progress past the initial sign-up. It makes me wonder how profitable this company could be if these bugs were fixed. Or better yet, how profitable could this company be if they cared enough to hear from their customers that they might provide an easier way to communicate with them?

So, I guess until they figure something out, avoid this one. I have pulled the referral bonus from the site. If I get any updates, I will provide them below. If no updates follow this by the time you read it, then the situation is ongoing.

What I Liked:

It’s a great-looking website, a great-looking app, and a fantastic concept!

What I Didn’t Like:

Not being able to try it.

Recommendation:

Avoid this one. Here’s the thing. They ask for a lot of sensitive information. If you are going to share the information without the benefit of actually trying the platform, all you’re doing is exposing yourself unnecessarily.

However, some people have had luck with it. Check out some other reviews for contrast.

Updates:

9/16/2021 – Today I received an email saying “We are pleased to inform you that your e-Toro trading account has now been verified.” No explanation or apology for the seven-month delay.
