The Republicans Will (NOT) Save Us

“The Republicans will save us”… wasn’t that the idea behind their election campaigns? What happened? The Republicans were supposed to save us from Amnesty. The Republicans were supposed to save us from Obamacare. The Republicans were supposed to save us from socialism. The Republicans were supposed to save the Constitution. The Republicans were supposed to save us from crippling debt. Shall we go on?

Why bother? None of it was true. In fact, the exact opposite is true, and some are somehow confused as to why. Well, let me just fill you in. Since 1913, there have been approximately five constants in this great nation. 1) An increase in the size of government. 2) A reduction in personal liberty. 3) A continual devaluation of the dollar. 4) A continuation of policy from one administration to the next. 5) Both major political parties are responsible for the previously stated.

I believe we could add a number six or simply clarify number 4 though. What we need to add on there is a continuation and increase of the national debt. That’s right! “The federal debt has increased by $3.8 trillion in the 3.8 years that have passed since House Speaker John Boehner cut his first spending deal with Senate Democrats and President Obama”. Just to clarify, Congress holds the governmental purse. (Read More)

Let me address a couple of other issues here. Another way the Republicans have betrayed you is by passing the $1.1 trillion spending bill funding every facet of government, including Obamacare, elements of immigration amnesty, and the funding of anti-Russian Ukraine via weapons which will probably launch us into war at some point pretty soon. (Here are the ones who voted against it) Meanwhile, Obama comes out and says he wants expansive war powers to pursue enemies wherever and however he deems necessary because he doesn’t want Congress to tie his hands. I don’t see congress crying about this one, either. But why would they? It’s not like many in America are paying attention. Never mind that this goes against the Constitution in so many ways.

Oh, and then there is H.R. 4681, which as Rep. Justin Amash says; “To be clear, Sec. 309 provides the first statutory authority for the acquisition, retention, and dissemination of U.S. persons’ private communications obtained without legal processes such as a court order or a subpoena.” Where is everyone on this one? Preoccupied with reality TV again? Where are all the people who have sworn an oath to defend the Constitution? Does it bother anyone that this totally violates a third of our Bill of Rights? Republicans are not here to save anyone. Instead, they are here to negotiate your power away. They just do it a little slower than the Democrats, who would otherwise steal it. The irony is that many Americans can clearly see this but somehow feel powerless to do anything about it. This is the part that I simply do not understand. There are several options available, but first, let’s deal with these fraudsters in office.

Some states allow for a recall. If your state is one of them, I would look into that. There is also the idea of campaigning to force the representative’s resignation – which DOES work! Sure this takes time and energy, but it’s still probably worth it. Finally, there is impeachment. That’s right, you can impeach representatives too.

Look, the point is that you need to get engaged, and you probably need to do it soon. I say this quite often, I know, but time is running out in so many ways. We cannot afford to be complacent anymore. We need to be active, and we need to try at least to hold these people accountable.
